Medical Care and Treatment

A full-time Occupational Health Nurse is available for medical treatmnent of occupational and non-occupational illness/injuries, and general health concerns. Emergency care is provided as needed. Examples of some of the non-occupational services provided include allergy injections, blood pressure screening, etc.

Occupational Health Surveillance

Full-time Occupational Health Nurse and a part-time Occupational Health Physician provide occupational health surveillance, including:

  1. Health screening for all UWO employees with identified potential workplace hazards.
  2. Promotion and maintenance of employees' physical, mental and social wellbeing.
  3. Protection of employee health against any health and safety hazards that may be found in their work environment.

Nursing Care

Full-time nursing care is available to all staff, faculty and on-campus visitors for both occupational and non-occupational illness/injury and general health concerns.

Blood Pressure Screening

This service is available to all employees at UWO. Employess can have their blood pressure monitored regularly at Workplace Health. Readings can then be given to employee for review by their family doctor. Also, find out ways to lower your blood pressure by talking with the nurse and/or picking up blood pressure handouts.

 

Allergy Injections

Allergy injections are available on-site to all employees. Simply bring in your serum and your shot can be administered by our nursing staff.

Immunizations

Different immunizations are available as needed, including Tetenus/Diptheria, Hepatitis B and Rabies. TB skin testing is also provided. Requests for travel immunization are differed to off-site Travel Clinics.

Flu Immunization Clinic

Flu immunization clinics usually run from late October into early December. Flu vaccinations are administered yearly to protect against influenza (the flu). The vaccination is given each year because the virus that causes influenza continues to change. Yearly vaccination offers protection against the viral strains that may be circulating that year. Laboratory Services

A lab specimen collection centre is located in Room 34 of of the University Community Centre (lower level). Bring in your requisition from your family physician and have it done on campus if it is more convenient for you.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy assessment and treatment is available at Workplace Health on a part-time basis. For more information about physiotherapy please call 519-661-2047 or ext 82047 from a campus phone.

Massage Therapy

A Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) is available at Workplace Health. Call 519-661-2047 or ext 82047 to make an appointment.
